Tommi Lynn Johns Is Here!

I know this post is WAY past due, but better late than never! I must warn you... This is going to be a very long post! I'll try to keep it short and sweet, but I just LOVE sharing her birth story! Welp, here it goes...
As I said in my last post, our Dr. scheduled an induction since I had not made any progess on my own. We were told to call on June 27th at 5pm to see if they had a bed available for us. If they did, we would have to be at the hospital by 6pm. Well, on her due date, which was June 25th, Tommy and I went to Scottsdale Fashion Square and walked around ALLLLLL day! We were seriously there for about 5-6 hours. Then we went to dinner at Pei Wei, then finished the day off with going to the movies and watching Bad Teacher. That night and Sunday, we were getting ourselves mentally and physically prepared to actually become parents within the next couple of days! I made a list Sunday night of everything I had to do... Bank deposit, stop by my office, laundry, etc... Monday morning came and Thomas left to work by 6am, as he always does. I woke up at 630am with stomach cramps. I figured they were Braxton Hicks, so I tried changing my position in bed to make them go away. When that didn't work for about 30 minutes I got out of bed and started walking around the house getting the stuff done on my list. The cramps continued. I didn't think they were anything to worry about, but I decided to time them. To my surprise, they were every 7 minutes and lasted about 30-35 seconds. I called my sister around 830am and told her what I was feeling. I could hear the GIGANTIC smile on her face when she said, "Oh my gosh, you're totally having contractions!" We got off the phone and I finished washing my hair and got out of the shower. (Yes, I was in the shower while I was talking to Kara... It felt so good to take the shower head off the hook and rub it on my belly while I was having a contraction!) I finally got around to calling Thomas... I didn't want him to rush home and then it be a fake out! Lol! I told him how far apart each contraction was and told him not to rush home, just finish your day up and come home when he was done. He said he only had about an hour left, which would put him home by 1030-11am. I called my mom after him and she said, "Well, are you ready for tonight?!" I said, "I don't think it's going to be tonight..." She said, "What do you mean?" That's when I told her I was already having contractions! She asked if Thomas was home and when I told her no, she said she would shower and then be right over! Well, about an hour passed and I knew my mom and Thomas were going to be there any minute, which they were. They pulled up within minutes of eachother and I have NEVER EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE BEEN HAPPIER TO SEE ANYBODY! By the time they got there it was around 11am and the contractions were getting pretty intense. I had a contraction when they were both there and I asked if we should go to the hospital. My mom told Thomas to call the Dr. and let them know the issue and see what they say. They told us to come in right away... They loaded my bags in the car, plugged the heating pad in the car and we were on our way! It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the hospital. Once we got there, Thomas pulled up to the valet and the valet boys opened my door and were waiting for me to get out. I was having a contraction and told them to just hang on and it would be over in a minute. I think they were nervous I was gonna have the baby right then because one of them asked me about 3 times if I needed a wheel chair. I wanted to tell him to shove that wheel chair up his... well, you know! Once the contraction was over, we made our way up to the maternity ward. By the time I got into my room, changed into my gown and they started my IV, it was about noon. The nurse checked to see if I was dilated and I was at 5cm!! I though to myself, "WOO HOO! I'M HAVING A BABY AND THEY AREN'T GONNA SEND ME HOME!" They gave me the epidural and I was high on life... or the epidural, but I like LIFE! :) The next couple hours were family and friends coming in. At 2pm, my nurse (Kristi) checked me again and I was fully dilated! She said she wasn't gonna have me push because Tommi was still pretty high and they were gonna see if she would drop on her own. I figured she would gradually make her way down. At 415, Thomas and I were the only ones in the room when I instantly felt pressure on my pubic bones. I told Thomas, "Uhhh, I think she just dropped because I feel pressure." He asked if I wanted him to go get Kristi and I said no because I wanted to give Tommi some more time to drop... That was a total lie. I was just so scared of what that meant... PUSHING AND THEN BIRTH!!! YIKES!!! Is it too late to turn back?! Can I change my mind on this whole parenting idea?! Kristi came in about 20 minutes later and asked me how I felt and I told her what I was feeling. She checked me and said, "Yep! She dropped. Want to push?!" Again... YIKES!!! Is it too late to turn back?! Can I change my mind on this whole parenting idea?! Since I knew the obvious answer, I asked her what the plan was after I started pushing. She said I would push until the baby started crowning, then she would call Dr. Gomez and he would finish the delivery. So I started pushing. I pushed 3 times, then she told me to stop until Dr. Gomez got there. Thomas decided that he was going to stay by my head and he didn't want to see anything going on down there. But once I started crowning and Kristi told me to stop pushing, he asked her if she could see the baby. She said yes and then asked him if he wanted to see her. He didn't even answer her and was already down there checking it all out! I will never forget what he said... "Is that her head?" Kristi answered with a yes and Thomas followed it up with, "Are we having a kid or a puppy?!" Ha! Once Dr. Gomez got there, there were already about 6 other nurses in my room waiting for him! (Side note: I LOVE Dr. Gomez... He delivered me and my sisters, my niece, and numerous cousins... He is such a wonderful man and I feel so comfortable with him!) Once he told me to push, I pushed 4 times and then Tommi made her debut! She was born at 507pm, weighing in at 7 lbs, 6 oz and was 21.5 inches long! Once she was born, they put her right on my chest and I helped clean her off, then they took her away and did all of the stuff they do with newborns! It seemed like forever that they had her and were cleaning us both up. Once they gave her back to us, I understood the puppy comment... She had so much hair, it was incredible! My family is full of toeheads with peach fuzz... She had long dark thick hair... All thanks to her hairy daddy! :) The next few days flew by as family and friends stopped by to see the princess. Having Tommi has truly changed my outlook on life. Everything I do now, I have to think if it will benefit or hurt my family... my husband and my daughter. Although it can be scary, it is amazing. I have been so blessed with a wonderful husband that loves me and works so hard to support us and a beautiful daughter that is healthy. I am the luckiest person in the world!

Update On Tommi's Arrival

Tommy and I went to our weekly check up on Tuesday and since I had not progressed one bit for the third week in a row, my Dr. scheduled an induction! My due date is actually tomorrow, June 25th, but there is just no way she is coming on her own! So we will be going into the hospital on Monday, June 27th! I can't wait! I know Thomas is pretty excited himself, which makes me feel like the luckiest woman in the world! He is going to be such a fantastic daddy and I can't wait to see my husband and my daughter fall in love with eachother!

Tommy & I waiting for the Dr. to give us our induction date!

Catching Up...

Wow! So much has happened in the last month that I haven't updated our blog with! Easter... Mother's Day... Dr. Appointments... A new home... LIFE! On Easter, we met my family at a park in Power Ranch, ate, fished and played corn hole! I only ate... I didn't participate in any of the games because I was having some pretty crazy feelings in my belly. I'm sure they were either Braxton Hicks or just the stretching of my stomach muscles. On Mother's Day, my mom, sisters and I scheduled an early tee time at San Marcos Golf Course! We always have fun golfing... Maybe because that is the ONE sport we don't get too competitive with! None of us are very good so we play "Best Ball" and we tee up for most our our shots, eventhough we aren't at the tee box! But we always have the best time... I love spending time with my mom and sisters! As for a new home... Tommy and I moved out of our townhouse and into a house! I have to admit, it's a bittersweet feeling. We had sooo much fun in our townhouse... Centrally located to everything since it's in downtown Chandler and walking distance to a few fun bars, and our front door opens right up to the community pool, which no one is ever at! But our new house has quite a few perks too! It has a private pool and an amazing kitchen! Those were our two "Must Haves" while we were looking for a new house and thankfully, we found a gorgeous home with both! Also, it is located right between our parents houses! We made quite a few renovations before moving in, but it was well worth the wait! I was able to get Tommi's room complete in less than 3 weeks! My mom is so awesome, she put up and painted the wainscot that I really wanted! It looks amazing! I will be sure to post pics asap!

March 26, 2011

On this day, I married my lover, my best friend, my partner in crime! Not only did a dream come true on this special day, but I was able to share it with most of my closest relatives and friends. Everything was absolutely perfect! I am still in shock of how smoothly everything went. However, I know it couldn't have gone so smoothly without the help of Kara, my mom, my grandma, and my Aunt Julie! And of course, the day wouldn't have been possible without my fantastic fiance, Thomas! Thank you all so much for all of your hard work! I love you all so much!

As for all of our guests, I am so thankful that you were all able to get to California to share our special day. You all have no idea how much it meant to us! We are so thankful for all of you and love you all very much!

For those of you that weren't able to be there, we wish we could have had everybody involved in this wonderful day, but it just didn't work out that way! However, we appreciate all the love and support from everyone!

Below are a few pictures from our Wedding Day. These are not the photos from our photographer, but as soon as we get those, I will post them!

We had just picked up our marriage license in this picture... It was one step closer to becoming Husband & Wife!

After we picked up our marriage license, we met the officiant at the ceremony spot. I love how Tommy's hand is on my belly in the second picture... He is so excited for our daughter!

The night before the wedding, all of the women went out to dinner and this awesome restaurant on the water in Dana Point called Wind & Sea. The food was delicious and the company was fantastic!

The view from our table was breathtaking...

My mom gave me my wedding gift... A gorgeous necklace from Tiffany's!

Bridal Shower

Tommy and I decided to get married before the baby arrived! With the help of my sisters and my mom, we were able to pull it off! Kara decided to host a Bridal Luncheon for me, which turned out beautifully! I can't express how much I appreciated everything she did for me, my bridal luncheon and the wedding! Thank you, Kara! I love you so much and appreciate you more than you know!

My Beautiful Sisters...

Well, after three ultrasounds and two of them confirming, it is safe to say that we are having a little GIRL! I know it's not a secret that I wanted a little boy, but what woman wouldn't LOVE a little girl?! Tommy and I honestly couldn't be happier!
